Its a sad day in our garden...

This week our gladiolas died...RIP. They hung on as long as they could but there was little that could be done. They are survived by the surrounding plants, various weeds and a pesky squirrel, who will miss them dearly but have already started making plans for their estate. :(

We knew they couldn't last forever especially with the weather starting to turn. What is more upsetting is that this means that winter is in fact getting closer, meaning there will be no flowers to be seen for at least 6 months! ::yikes:: Now that is sad.

Fortunately Todd and I have a plan. This time we are going to try to grow tulips. We can plant more of them and they bloom early. We can plant them now and expect to see them sometime around April! Yay! My cute hubs brought home 4 bags of bulbs...yes 4, so he's apparently got some BIG plans. They are all red, white, and blue so next year Gardin de Coyay will be taking on a more patriotic theme...which is actually quite fitting for this neighborhood. So try not to be too sad for the glads, they had a good run :).
