Some of the top advice I hear everyday once someone (friend or otherwise) sees that I'm pregnant is "better get your sleep now!" or "Enjoy your sleep while you can!". I always smile sweetly and say that I'm trying and go on my merry way. Now-a-days what I really want to do is turn around, put my hand on my hip and say 'Now how do you propose I do that?!?!"
The fact of the matter is this:
* It is hotter than Hades outside making sleep uncomfortable for even the non-pregnant folks
* I have a 5lb bowling ball in my stomach that gets extremely annoyed if I impede on his space at anytime during the night. So laying on right side, left side, back all equal angry baby.
* Laying on my right or left side for long periods of time also equals angry hip bones...who knew?
* When the elusive comfortable position is found, one of two things happen, more often than not at the same time....
1. Heartburn and/or
2. I have to go to the bathroom...again.
This process repeats itself many times during the night. Its a circus. I have pillows everywhere but even the coolest pillow forts aren't helping. Whats worse is Todd isn't even here, he's off sleeping comfortably in North Carolina, I have complete rein over our bed and that doesn't even help. Gah.
Maybe this is how your body prepares you for the exhaustion you will face when the baby comes or maybe this is a cruel part of preganancy, or maybe, just maybe its just 2am and due to the list above, I'm awake and therefore cranky. ::yawns and reaches for more tums::
Sigh.

I hope you find some relief soon! I remember what those last two months were like with little to no sleep...it was not fun at all.
you are totally correct, this is exactly how your body prepares you for life with a newborn, at least once he joins you, Todd gets to stay up with him too!!! :D
