Moving on up!

The other day, Todd and I sat down at our dining room table, the same table I'm pretty sure I had in college, for dinner. As we looked around at all the boxes that held our beautiful wedding china and crystal we had an epiphany...we are no longer struggling young adults. With this realization firmly in our minds we scampered off and bought a new dining set. Three short but anxious weeks later it arrived. We spent the entire night setting it up and placing our GORGEOUS china and crystal (thank you everyone again!) in the china cabinet. When we were done, as we stood back to admire our new dining room , Todd hugged me and said "Sweetie, I think we've arrived". :) Would anyone like to come over for dinner?
Pre-makeover, notice our wedding gifts still tucked away in boxes :(

Happy Valentines day!

Happy Valentines day! I know this day is just an over-comercialized Hallmark holiday but I still love it! Any day that involves flowers, candy and little pink hearts is a-ok in my book. Since its on a Thursday this year and my sweet (hard working) husband falls asleep almost before the sun sets we decided to go low key and celebrate at home. We made pizza, had wine and watched movies. It was a perfect evening. Hope everyone had a wonderful love-filled day!

Aww, I love flowers

We had to make our pizza festive!...yes we are dorks

I had to include this picture. Todd loves cherry pie, and this was my first attempt at making one, I was so darn proud of how it turned out, I had to take a picture...yum!

Hi Moms...

One of the fun perks of Todd's new job is every Thursday before a graduation, we go to an event affectionately called 'hi moms'. Like on MCRD, every Thursday before graduation they have a meet and greet with the candidate Officer's families, give out awards and introduce themselves. There is food and drinks and I love seeing Todd all dressed up. Then there are a few speeches from the Officer, Petty Officer and Drill Instructor in charge of the graduating class followed immediately by the DI assembling the whole class to do push ups. It is really cool to see them working. I can't wait to see Todd graduate a class!

Happy Birthday Toadi!

Today Todd bids ado to the 20's and turns the big 3-0! YAY! Since this is a such a milestone birthday we took a couple days to celebrate it. We started on Saturday morning by opening gifts and then on Saturday night a group of us went out for dinner and drinks to celebrate. We had such good time. Then today since Todd had to work, we just relaxed, toasted his first 30 years with champagne and had cake. Though we made some 'over the hill' jokes I think he gets more handsome each year. Happy birthday sweetie!

Skiing in New Hampshire

We are in New Hampshire! Along with the fabulous Sauls, we decided to take advantage of this long weekend and go skiing. The weather was perfect and we had an amazing time.

Walking in a winter wonderland

The weather man said that a storm was coming but by how clear it was yesterday, you would never guess. This morning we woke up, looked out the window and lo and behold...SNOW! Its been snowing pretty steady this whole morning. Having experienced snow only a handful of times in my life, I am loving it. My sweet husband...well he's a bit less excited. I think it must be because he spends most of his days outside. He is extremely excited to break out his skis this year however!

Time to look around!

Today was such a beautiful day here in Newport. The sun was out, there was not a cloud in the sky and it was a 'balmy' 40 degrees! We decided to take advantage of the weather and do some of the more 'touristy' things here in Newport. Unfortunately we didn't do any research beforehand and sadly most of the places we attempted to visit were closed. Oh well, there is still plenty of time. We did however have a great time driving by all the mansions and along the coast. This place is AMAZING!

Standing outside Fort Adams, sadly is was closed. :(
