Helmets happen...

There are many...MANY...many things people don't tell you about when you become a parent. One of which is that your baby's head can go flat. :( Our little Matt man has loved his left side since birth. We noticed it, then cranked our own heads side to side and decided we preferred a side too. Yes, people this is the caliber of parenting Matty is dealing with unfortunately. It wasn't until his 4 month baby appointment that the doctor said the dreaded words "uh oh" while examining him...apparently those 4 months of laying to the left had caused his head to become ever so slightly misshaped. As a new mother, of course I freaked out but the doctor assured me that this was very common and very easily fixed. We took him to the recommended cranial place and a few short weeks later he was sporting a fancy new helmet. It breaks my heart that he has to wear it but he could really care less. The people at the cranial place are wonderful and we get to spend time with my parents every week when we drive up to Orange County for his appointments. I even decorated it for baseball season. :) At the last appointment he had shown so much improvement that it looks like we can say goodbye to the helmet in 4 weeks. Hooray!

*** Unfortunately Matty's mama didn't read the fine print on how to seal her paint job and had to peel it off a week later :( I plan to attempt it again this weekend :)

Winetasting with the ladies

About 4 years ago, I joined a Military brides board on the Knot to ask for help for my wedding. 4 years and many deployments, kiddos and life events later these ladies are now some of my dearest friends. I had no idea you could be so close to people that you've never personally met. As the years have gone on the military has stationed lots of us close and I have got to meet many of them. Today 4 of us (all Marine wives) decided to leave the kiddos with our hubbys and go winetasting. Words cannot explain how much fun we had...but perhaps a few pictures can...love you girls!

He's mastered sitting...is crawling that far behind?

Peas!

Since the Matt-man has been loving himself some rice cereal we decided that it was time to introduce him to some other foods. First up? Peas! Of course he had no idea that the menu had changed.

Then he just pretty much rubbed the peas all over his face. Though it was a rocky first go, he loves them now!

Happy 6 Months!!

How is our little man 6 months old already? Time is going way too fast and if I could keep him like this forever, I probably would. In the last few weeks he has grown so much and we think he is just about tipping the scales at 20lbs! whoa.

In the last month our little guy has:

* Started sitting
* Started eating solids...yummy peas!
* Babbles like his mama
* Mastered rolling over. So much so that we can't keep him on his back...ever.
* Tries to put just about everything in his mouth
* Grabs at everything (oh dear)
* Sleeps through the night....(sometimes ;) )
* Giggles at everything
* Has discovered our kitty (Thunder is less than thrilled)

We love watching him grow into such a sweet boy. I don't think it could be possible to love someone more.

Lazy Saturday Mornings...

My Todd is just thrilled to finally have a son that he can watch cartoons with without ridicule. This morning I woke to find both my boys laying on the couch watching Transformers. It was adorable. When they had watched enough they went ahead and took a nap. Love them!
