Just watchin' a little football...

We watch a lot of football in this house. I was a Rams fan by birth (until they ditched us for St. Louis) and since L.A. still doesn't have a team, I am now happily a Seahawks fan by marriage. Unfortunately the Seahawks aren't part of the popular crowd over here on the East Coast so unless they are playing the Patriots we have little hope of seeing a game...at least not from the comfort of our own home ::frowns at network TV::. Oh well we do our best. We throw on our jerseys, try to find a place in town to watch and support from afar. We can't wait to go to a game with the fabulous Brian and Sandra when we go home to Seattle in December! Go Seahawks!

Tip: Wait for a commercial before taking a picture :)

Hey hey!

My Hubs is awesome....and maybe a little crazy

This is getting serious. Today my sweet Todd signed up for his second Ironman race! Now myself and I'm sure most people would think that completing one would be enough. I mean really, you have the right to brag and impress the masses for the rest of your life, there's no need to get back out there and do it again! But by golly my sweet hubs has found a sport that he really enjoys and I am so proud of him. There are not a lot of people that have this kind of dedication and that is one of the many things I love about him. He got his old 1st Lt, Mosey, (his friend that he did the last Ironman race with) on board and then alerted me that we are Kentucky bound! The race is not until August 30th 2009 so he has lots of time to train and I have lots of time to design 'Team Coyer' t-shirts and buy air horns! Who feels like coming to Kentucky?

Greetings from New York!

A few years ago, I met one of my favorite friends, Erin as her hubby and my Todd were both Drill Instructors on MCRD. We became quick friends and after a while found ourselves not once but twice sending our sweeties off to serve overseas basically at the same time. Together we made what could have been sad and lonely times actually pretty fun and with all the tears and laughs we've shared, I consider her close to a sister. It was very hard to move away. Well with both our sweeties home for a while my Todd and I have taken to getting married and moving and Erin and her lovely husband, Jimmy, have taken to having babies. Jameson aka world's cutest baby #1 came just under 2 years ago and little Connor aka cutest baby #2 made his debut in June. Since both she and her hubs are from New York they returned from California to have their newest baptised and Todd and I could not be more excited to see them and explore this small town they have always told us about. So off to Millbrook we went! It took just under 4 hours to get there and the drive was gorgeous. The leaves are just starting to think about changing so driving through hills and hills of greenery with a few orange trees mixed in was beautiful. I can't wait for fall!

Millbrook is a small town about an hour and a half north of New York City and it is perfect. Small town charm, nice people, country fairs; the quintessential small town. Of course I immediately announced that we will indeed retire here as well ::watches Todd roll his eyes::. What I loved the most was that this town has been a part of every monumental occurrence of Erin's life. I don't think I have ever felt that connected to one place like that . It was so great to catch up and see how her adorable family is thriving. Her parents and extended family were so welcoming and hospitable, we will definitely be coming back!

Jimmy and Jameson, this kid is SO cute... and mobile! Todd tried chasing after him for a while and came back out of breath and covered in perspiration. :)

Greetings From Block Island!

We are in Block Island! For weeks I have heard co-workers talk about their weekend trips to Block Island, so this weekend Todd and I decided to see what all the hoopla was about. Now I know why they love it...Block.Island.Is.Awesome!!! It is located just 13 miles off the coast of Rhode Island and takes a little less than an hour to get there 'on the slow' ferry. We got there around noonish and immediately went to one of their many restaurants overlooking the water. Since it was a holiday weekend, there were tons of people there. It is full of cute little shops and restaurants and people riding on bicycles and mopeds. The island has only 950 residents year-round and over 15,000 in the summer and only 60% of the island is allowed to be built on, so there is a lot of open space. It is gorgeous! After lunch we window shopped for a while before renting a moped of our own and explored the island! We had so much fun driving around seeing the sights.

We also decided that we are absolutely going to retire there! Todd is a bit skeptical as he says I want to retire to most places we visit but this time I am totally serious. I can totally see us in our later years living in one of the many Cape Cod style homes on the island overlooking the ocean. We've already started hammering out a plan. Once we move there, I will open a bakery that I will call 'Shan Tarie's Tasty Treats' to which I will bake delicious pies, cakes and cookies, and possibly sell tubs of my mom's guacamole (yes, its that good) and Todd will open up a Moped rental that he has decided to call 'Todd's Mopeds 4 Less'. We will become friends will all the locals and be incredibly happy. Sounds like a pretty good retirement eh? ::sighs::

Hanging with my people!

Today we decided to see what was going on downtown so off we went and walked right into the Newport Irish Festival! We love this town! Of course we had to stay for a Guinness, it is my heritage after all and anytime I get to hang out with fellow redheads is never a bad time! :) There were tons of live bands, Irish food, vendors selling everything Irish and of course beer, we had a great time!

Hello.
